Why the Region Warrants Its Own Discussion

Styling and Traction

It commonly presents at the temples and along the frontal hairline. Frequent chemical processing and high-heat straightening compound shaft fragility. These are among the few causes where a change in habit alone produces measurable improvement.
Distinguishing Breakage From Loss
Regional practice sees a great deal of shaft breakage misidentified as hair loss. The test is simple: hairs shed from the follicle have a small pale bulb at the root; broken fibres do not, and are usually shorter and of uneven length. Breakage responds to water, heat, and styling changes. Follicular loss does not.
The Treatment Environment
The Gulf is a mature, competitive market with widely available transplantation, PRP, and mesotherapy — often marketed directly to consumers before the underlying mechanism has been established. Two practical cautions follow. First, transplantation redistributes existing follicles and does not arrest the process; untreated progression around a graft produces a poor result within a few years. Second, procedural adjuncts have a legitimate role but are not substitutes for addressing mechanism.
A Sensible Regional Sequence
- Establish the pattern and the timeline: diffuse shedding, crown thinning, frontal recession, or breakage.
- Measure what is measurable: ferritin, thyroid function, vitamin D.
- Remove mechanical and chemical aggravators, including traction and high-heat processing.
- Address mechanism — androgen conversion and inflammatory signaling — with something you can sustain for years.
- Consider procedures only after the underlying process is under control.
