Enhanced Drug Delivery ofNatural Hair-Stimulating Compounds.

A proprietary formulation pairing naturally-based 5α-reductase inhibitors and anti-inflammatory phytochemicals with a β-cyclodextrin drug-delivery vector — the first reported use of naturally-based delivery agonists in amplifying the clinical benefit of botanically-based hair-growth formulations.
TrichoCyte — supercharged hair growth

Longitudinal Clinical Photography

270 days. Two subjects. Documented regrowth.

Vertex-scalp photography captured at Day 0, Day 90, Day 180, and Day 270 of the cyclodextrin inclusion-complex protocol. At baseline, significant baldness was observed in both subjects. By Day 270, scalp hair loss was no longer evident in either client.

Mechanism of Action

A botanically-derived formula, invaginated in β-cyclodextrin.

In a landmark peer-reviewed study, Geno Marcovici, PhD, DABAAHP and Alan Bauman, MD demonstrated an amplified clinical outcome for a proprietary formulation incorporating naturally-based anti-inflammatory compounds and highly potent 5α-reductase inhibitors. The study described the enhanced outcome resulting via the successful invagination of the active formula in a highly efficient drug-delivery vector molecule — β-cyclodextrin. This study appears to report the first use of naturally-based drug-delivery vectors as agonists in amplifying the clinical benefit of botanically-based hair-growth formulations.

β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD)

A cone-shaped cyclic, nontoxic oligosaccharide of seven glucose units joined as α-(1→4) isomers. Hydrophilic at the outer surface and hydrophobic in the cavity at its center — β-CD forms a stable, insoluble inclusion complex with naturally-based actives including β-sitosterol. Because β-CD is itself water-soluble, hydrophobic guest molecules can be encapsulated in its non-polar cavity, then released for controlled, targeted delivery.

An Uncontrolled Case Series Using a Botanically Derived, β-Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complex in Two Androgenetic Alopecia-Affected Male Subjects

Geno Marcovici, PhD, DABAAHP · Alan Bauman, MD

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to determine the effectiveness of botanically derived inhibitors of 5α-reductase in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia

Nelson Prager · Karen Bickett · Nita French · Geno Marcovici

J Altern Complement Med · PMID 12006122 · DOI 10.1089/acm.2002.8.143

First placebo-controlled, double-blind trial of botanically derived 5α-reductase inhibitors (liposterolic extract of Serenoa repens and beta-sitosterol) in AGA. 60% of subjects on active formulation rated as improved at final visit. Established the effectiveness of naturally-occurring 5AR inhibitors against AGA for the first time.

Inhibition of inflammatory gene expression in keratinocytes using a composition containing Carnitine, Thioctic Acid & LSESr

Sridar Chittur · Brian Parr · Geno Marcovici

PMID 19692448 · PMCID PMC3137880 · DOI 10.1093/ecam/nep102

In a well-validated keratinocyte assay, the LSESr + carnitine + thioctic-acid composition effectively suppressed LPS-activated gene expression of chemokines (CCL17, CXCL6, LTB4) associated with inflammation and apoptosis — supporting a two-pronged 5AR + anti-inflammatory approach to AGA.

Blockade of Androgen Markers Using a Novel Betasitosterol, Thioctic Acid and Carnitine-containing Compound in Prostate and Hair Follicle Cell-based Assays

Li Chen · Jiaolong Wang · Glen Mouser · Yan Chun Li · Geno Marcovici

PMID 26990224 · DOI 10.1002/ptr.5611

In vitro assays of hair-follicle dermal papilla and LNCaP prostate cell lines: the novel composition down-regulated disease-characteristic mRNA expression and outperformed finasteride — proof of concept for simultaneously targeting 5AR and inflammatory mediators in AGA and BPH.

Clinical Adoption

TrichoCyte® in clinical practice

TrichoCyte® is deployed clinically in the United States by Prestige Medical Group (Tustin & Santa Ana, California) as the botanical foundation of their CryoTouch™ MD with TrichoCyte® SML non-surgical hair restoration protocol. The protocol pairs TrichoCyte®'s nano-encapsulated botanical actives with topical carboxy delivery (TCD) to improve scalp microcirculation and enhance follicular bioavailability.

Real-world clinical use validates the platform thesis: a plant-based hair growth protocol delivering active compounds directly to the follicle, without injections, surgery, or systemic androgen suppression.
