Based on nearly three decades of research and advancement, today's state-of-the-art TrichoCyte® formulations offer remarkable advantages in treating pattern hair loss — and, unlike many other treatment choices, are designed to minimize systemic exposure and have been well tolerated in documented use. Here's why.
The Key-and-Lock Analogy
One factor triggering the onset and progression of pattern hair loss is the conversion of testosterone to its far more active metabolite, 5-alpha DHT. In susceptible scalp hair follicles this process involves a sort of key-and-lock interaction wherein the cell-surface "lock" binds a circulating "key." This step produces a dimerized 5-alpha-DHT molecule which then translocates from the cell surface across the cytosol and into the cell nucleus, where it modifies the genetic programming from robust healthy hair growth into a negative growth cycle.
Recall the key-and-lock analogy. Among other positive hair-growth attributes, TrichoCyte® modulates the cell-surface milieu — and this is tantamount to changing the lock so it no longer fits with the key. Thus, the pathological synthesis of 5-alpha-DHT is inhibited — and without causing any biochemical mischief downstream.
Contrast With Finasteride and Minoxidil
In contrast, some hair-growth treatments rely upon finasteride, a drug which profoundly changes one's endogenous homeostasis (i.e., upsets a person's set-point biochemistry). The known pathological consequences can include feminizing birth defects, gynecomastia (male breast enlargement), loss of libido, and suicidal ideation, among others.
Other hair-growth therapies incorporate minoxidil, a profoundly potent drug with wide-ranging potential side effects including unwanted facial hair growth, dermatitis, and — when taken in its oral form — pulmonary edema. By contrast, TrichoCyte® is designed to stimulate scalp hair growth specifically, while minimizing systemic exposure.
A Word on "Botanicals"
Over many years in this field we've seen numerous hair products come and go. Of late — in part, perhaps, due to our conscientious work in the area — it seems purveyors have seized upon trumpeting "botanicals." Unfortunately, just because a chemical is naturally derived doesn't mean it's the best choice. Very few of these products have any sort of scientific oversight, let alone peer-reviewed validation. The downside to such unproven concoctions may not be clearly apparent for months or years after first usage.
By way of contrast, TrichoCyte® is — and always shall be — solely reliant upon carefully conceived, tested, validated, and proven first-rate research, with evidence of safety and efficacy published in well-respected mainstream medical journals.
